BHIMESHWAR TEMPLE-NAGAON

 

Bhimeshwar Mandir is a temple located in Nagaon (Alibag-Revdanda Road)Maharashtra. It is a very ancient temple of Lord Shiva. The highest number of temples in Alibag taluka is at its southern end at Nagaon, Chaul. Bhimeshwar temple is one of the oldest temples in the area.

The Bhimeshwar Temple must have been built about 350 years ago. It is recorded that this temple was renovated in 1758. Sir Kanhoji Angre brought six families from Ratnagiri for the educational development of the area. It is also found that there is a temple of Vishnu here.

There is a story about this temple. Today, the place where Shiva-ling is, a formerly Varkas land. One day while farmers were farming in that area, He saw that his plow was covered with blood. Seeing all this, Farmer got scared and he got dizzy. He had a vision at night." I am the guardian of the city. Make me a temporary shadow".   Accordingly, the farmer made a shade for it, There is still a plow mark on the Shiv-pind.

 The temple has idols of Maruti and Vishnu. There is a lake in front of the temple, there is a Deep Mal and four Tulsi Vrindavan. Except for one of them, the three Tulsi Vrindavanas are in the form of a person's samadhi as a remembrance.

There is a legend as to why the temple got the name Bhimeshwar, "Sardar Bilwakar of Kanhojirao Angre had faith in this temple as it is a self-contained place of Shiva. Some people told him that this Shiv-Ling fulfill everyone's wish.Biwalkar's daughter Bhimatai was not having children, She gave birth to a son within a few days of her wish. After that, this linga was named Bhimeshwar".

Many festivals are celebrated here but the biggest festival is Mahashivaratri. Locals who are now out of town and many other people definitely come on Mahashivaratri. Mahashivaratri is a palanquin ceremony. The palanquin travels all over Nagaon all night and returns to Bhimeshwar temple in the morning.

भीमेश्वर मंदिर हे नागाव येथील  एक मंदिर आहे(अलिबाग-रेवदंडा रोड).हे भगवान शिव यांचे एक अतिशय प्राचीन मंदिर आहे. अलिबाग तालुक्यातील सर्वाधिक मंदिरे दक्षिणेकडे आहेत. भीमेश्वर मंदिर परिसरातील सर्वात प्राचीन मंदिरांपैकी एक आहे.

भीमेश्वर मंदिर सुमारे 350 वर्षांपूर्वी बांधले गेले असावे.या मंदिराचा नूतनीकरण 1758 मध्ये करण्यात आल्याची नोंद आहे.सर कान्होजी आंग्रे यांनी परिसरातील शैक्षणिक विकासासाठी रत्नागिरीहून सहा कुटुंबे आणली. येथे विष्णूचे मंदिर असल्याचेही आढळले आहे.

या मंदिराविषयी एक कथा आहे. आज शिव-लिंग आहे ती जागा म्हणजे पूर्वीचे वारकस जमीन. एके दिवशी शेतकरी त्या भागात शेती करीत असतांना त्याने पाहिले की त्याचा नांगर रक्ताने माखलेला होता.हे सर्व पाहून शेतकरी घाबरला आणि त्याला चक्कर येऊन तो खाली पडला.त्याला रात्री एक स्वप्न पडले. "मी या नगराचा रक्षक आहे , मला तात्पुरत्या स्वरूपात सावली तयार कर".त्यानुसार शेतकर्‍याने त्यासाठी सावली बनविली.शिवपिंडावर अद्याप नांगर लागल्याची खूण आहे. 

मंदिरात मारुती आणि विष्णूच्या मूर्ती आहेत.मंदिरासमोर एक तलाव आहे. तेथे एक दीपमाळ व तीन तुळशी वृंदावन आहेत.त्या पैकी एक सोडल्यास तीन तुळशी वृंदावने हि व्यक्ती च्या समाधी स्वरूपात आठवण म्हणून आहेत.

भीमेश्वर हे नाव का ठेवले गेले त्या विषयी एक आख्यायिका आहे.हे शिवकालीन स्वयंभू स्थान असल्यामुळे कान्होजी आंग्रे यांचे सरदार बिवलकर यांची या मंदिरावर श्रद्धा होती .त्या एक गृहस्थाने सांगितले कि हे शिव लिंग नवसाला पावते.  बिवलकर यांची कन्या भीमाताई हिला अपत्य होत नव्हते,तिने भीमेश्वराला नवस ठेवला व काही दिवसांमध्ये तिला संतान प्राप्ती झाली. त्या नंतर या शिवलिंगाचे भीमेश्वर हे नाव ठेवण्यात आले.

येथे खूप सारे सण साजरे केले जातात परंतु महाशिवरात्री हा सर्वात मोठा सण साजरा केला जातो.येथील स्थानिक नागरिक जे आता बाहेर गावी आहेत व इतर अनेक नागरिक महाशिवरात्री ला येथे आवर्जून येतात.महाशिवरात्री या दिवशी पालखी सोहळा असतो ,हि पालखी रात्रभर  पूर्ण नागाव मध्ये फिरते व पहाटे परत भीमेश्वर मंदिर मध्ये येते .
